Summer 2017 Internship/ Externship for Spanish-Speaking Law Students



Position: Migrant Legal Aid (MLA) is seeking legal interns for the summer of 2017.


Program Description: Migrant Legal Aid of Grand Rapids, Michigan is a civil legal aid office for low-income farmworkers in Michigan.  MLA provide services to farmworkers throughout Michigan and engages in statewide advocacy initiatives, collaborative efforts and strategic planning on matters affecting farmworkers in Michigan.


Job Responsibilities: Summer Interns at Migrant Legal Aid will work under the supervision of a licensed and experienced attorney.  Responsibilities include interviewing clients, assessing their legal problems, conveying legal advice through oral and written communication, conducting outreach to migrant labor camps, researching and drafting legal documents, and supporting attorneys with pending litigation and projects.


Qualifications: Conversational Spanish ability is required.  Prefer at least one year of law school completed.
